CARSON, Calif. (Monday, March 3, 2014) – The LA Galaxy begin their campaign for a record fifth MLS Cup this week when the Galaxy host Opening Night against Real Salt Lake at StubHub Center on Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes. The entire Galaxy team will be available to media on Tuesday, March 4 and Thursday, March 6 to preview the club’s Opening Night.

All-time, the Galaxy are 9-6-3 in their first game of the regular season and 11-5-2 in their first home game of the year. Since moving to the StubHub Center in 2003, the Galaxy have opened their season at home six times, going 3-2-1 in those matches.

Saturday’s match will mark the third time that the Galaxy will have met RSL in the home opener at StubHub Center. Both meetings finished with a 3-1 scoreline, with the Galaxy prevailing in 2005 and Real Salt Lake claiming three points in 2012.

One of the Galaxy’s Western Conference rivals, Real Salt Lake eliminated the defending MLS Cup Champions in the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs with a 2-0 win at Rio Tinto Stadium last November to advance past the Galaxy with a 2-1 aggregate score in the Western Conference Semifinals. The two sides have met 25 times since RSL came into the league in 2005, going 10-10-5 against the Salt Lake side in MLS regular season play.
