CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, April 1, 2014) –The LA Galaxy Academy Under-18, Under-16, and Under-14 will host their counterparts from Pateadores Academy at StubHub Center’s Field 5 on Saturday, April 5 in U.S. Soccer Development Academy action.

The Galaxy Academy U-18’s (14-5-2 overall, 44 pts.) will kick off this weekend’s action when they host Pateadores Academy U-18’s (10-6-4 overall, 34 pts.) on Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. PT. The last encounter between both U-18 sides finished with a 5-2 win at Vanguardia University last January as five different Galaxy U-18 players found the back of the net to propel the Galaxy to victory.

The action continues at 12:30 p.m., as the undefeated Galaxy Academy U-16’s (15-0-6 overall, 51 pts.) hosts the Pateadores Academy U-16’s (10-4-6 overall, 36 pts.) at StubHub Center’s Field 5. In the last meeting between the clubs last October, a brace from forward Dylan Smith and an 80th minute goal from Jorge Ruiz salvaged a 3-3 draw. After falling behind 3-0 late in the second half, the Galaxy scored three unanswered goals in the final 13 minutes of the game.

Saturday’s tripleheader action will wrap up when the Galaxy Academy U-14’s take on the Pateadores Academy U-14’s at 3:00 p.m. The Galaxy U-14’s first loss of the USSDA season came on the road to Pateadores at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa last October as two first half goals were enough to seal a 2-0 victory for the Pateadores side.

GALAXY U-16’S REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN USSDA PLAY: The Galaxy Academy Under-16’s remain the only undefeated team in their U.S. Soccer Development Academy age bracket as they defeated Real So Cal 4-0 on Saturday. Goals from Johnny Ramirez, Dylan Smith and a brace from Ethan Zubak propelled the Galaxy U-16’s to a decisive 4-0 win over Real So Cal. The Galaxy U-16’s head into their game against Pateadores U-16 this Saturday riding a 21 league game undefeated streak. The U-16’s are now 15-0-6 overall and sit in first place in the Southwest Division standings with 51 points.

GALAXY ACADEMY U-18’S DROP A 2-1 LOSS TO REAL SO CAL: The LA Galaxy Academy's U-18 team fell 2-1 to Real So Cal on Saturday, March 29. After holding a 1-0 lead at the half after Christian Chavez scored his 10th goal of the season but the U-18’s were not able to hang on to the lead in the second half.  Despite a seemingly comfortable 1-0 lead throughout the second half, two long throw-in set pieces proved to be their undoing. The loss was the first for the U-18’s since March 1. The LA Galaxy U-18’s are now 14-5-2 with 44 points and currently sit in second place.

GALAXY ACADEMY U-14’S LOSE TO REAL SO CAL 2-0: The LA Galaxy Academy Under-14’s suffered just their third loss of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season Saturday when it dropped a 2-0 result at home to the Real So Cal U-14’s at StubHub Center. The LA Galaxy Academy U-14’s will look to bounce back this weekend when they host Pateadores Academy U-14’s on Saturday at 3 p.m.  LA Galaxy Academy U-14 members Hanif Wright, Tristan Weber, and Zico Bailey are all set to return to training this week after their stints with their respective U.S. National Teams.

WRIGHT NAMED TO JOSIP KATALINSKI INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT ROSTER: LA Galaxy Academy forward Haji Wright will be joining the 22-player U.S. Under-17 National Team squad led by head coach Richie Williams for the upcoming Josip Katalinski International Tournament that runs from April 3-6 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Following the tournament, the team will also play two friendly matches against the Croatia U-17 national team in Zagreb, Croatia. To begin the Katalinski tournament, the USA will face the Montenegro U-17 national team on April 3 and the Sarajevo Select team the following day. The results will help determine which Placement Match the team plays in on April 6 against one of the following opponents: Bosnia’s U-17 national team, Belgrade Select or the Macedonia U-17 national team. The U.S. U-17 MNT will then cap off its trip, which comes on the heels of its recent March tour of the Pacific Northwest, with a pair of friendlies against Croatia’s U-17’s on April 8 and 10. Eighteen players on the current roster, including Wright, took part in the team’s three-match tour of Seattle and Portland in March. LA Galaxy is one of the five MLS Academy teams represented on the roster.

RAMOS, JONES AND RUIZ NAMED TO U.S. U-18 NATIONAL TEAM TRAINING CAMP: LA Galaxy Academy defenders Alex Ramos and Malcolm Jones, and forward Jorge Ruiz were named to the 24-player roster by U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team head coach Javier Perez for a 10-day training camp that will be held from April 4-13 at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, Calif. While in camp, the U.S. will play a pair of friendlies against the U-18 national teams of Canada on April 8 and Mexico on April 12. The camp is the first gathering of the U.S. U-18 MNT since it competed at the Copa del Atlántico in the Canary Islands in February. A handful of players are joining the U-18’s for the first time after previously participating in the Youth National Team program at younger age levels, including LA Galaxy’s Ramos who receives his first call-up since participating in a U-17 Men’s National Team camp in March of 2013. After the April camp, the U-18’s will next convene at the end of May for the Lisbon International Tournament in Lisbon, Portugal.
