LA Galaxy Academy teams host Nomads SC on Saturday

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, May 9, 2014) –The LA Galaxy Academy Under-18, Under-16, and Under-14 will host their counterparts from Nomads SC at StubHub Center’s Field 5 on Saturday, May 10 in U.S. Soccer Development Academy action.

The Galaxy Academy U-18’s (16-5-3, 51 points) will kick off this weekend’s action when they host Nomads SC U-18’s (13-9-2, 41 points) on Saturday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m. PT. The last encounter between both U-18 sides finished with a 3-0 win at University of California, San Diego last November as a goal from forward Christian Chavez and a brace from striker Adonis Amaya propelled the Galaxy to victory. The Galaxy U-18 squad will then host Arsenal FC U-18 on May 17 and Strikers FC U-18 on May 31 for their final two games of the USSDA regular season.

The action continues at 12:30 p.m., as the Galaxy Academy U-16’s (16-2-6, 54 points) hosts the Nomads SC U-16’s (6-13-5, 23 points) at StubHub Center’s Field 5. In the last meeting between the clubs last October, the Galaxy went down at the 35^th minute of the match, but a goal from Galaxy U-16 midfielder Dmitriy Zhuravlev at the 40^th minute salvaged a 1-1 draw for the visitors. Last month, the LA Galaxy U-16’s qualified for the 2013-2014 Academy Playoffs as the team received an automatic bid to the 2013-14 Postseason.

Saturday’s tripleheader action will wrap up when the Galaxy Academy U-14’s take on the Nomads SC U-14’s at 3:00 p.m. The Galaxy U-14’s defeated the Nomads SC U-14’s in their first encounter of the USSDA season last November in San Diego after two goals from Jesus Nunez were enough to seal a 2-0 victory for the Galaxy side. The Galaxy U-14’s defeated FC Golden State U-14’s 2-0 at StubHub Center's Field 5 last Saturday as Leo Zulli and Noa Harrison scored for the Galaxy to improve their record to 14-4-3 in USSDA with 45 points in the Southwest Division standings.
