LA Galaxy II forward Chandler Hoffman Named USL PRO Player Of The Week

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, May 13, 2014) – LA Galaxy II forward Chandler Hoffman was named USL PRO Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2014 USL PRO season after he recorded two goals in two games while helping his side take four points from the week. Galaxy II defender Kyle Venter joined Hoffman on the USL PRO Team of the Week after a solid outing against the Dayton Dutch Lions last Saturday.

Hoffman scored the game-winner for the Galaxy II as they took a 2-1 victory against the Charlotte Eagles on Monday, May 5 at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium. He then opened the scoring for Los Dos as they drew 1-1 on the road against the Dayton Dutch Lions on Saturday night. Hoffman now sits tied for the league lead in goals scored with five tallies in eight appearances this season.

Venter, who was drafted in the second round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Galaxy in January, was solid defensively in the team’s draw against the Dutch Lions after just his second start in four appearances with the Los Dos.

Additionally, Galaxy II midfielders Rafael Garcia and Raul Mendiola were named as honorable mentions after their strong performance in their Week 8 appearances.

LA Galaxy II will play two matches over the next week as they take on Cal FC in the U.S. Open Cup second round on Wednesday at 7:30pm PT before heading back on the road to visit Sacramento Republic FC at Hughes Stadium on May 17 at 7:30pm PT.
