Landon Donovan becomes MLS all-time regular season goal scoring king

CARSON, Calif. -- Landon Donovan was not to be denied on Sunday evening.

The LA Galaxy forward took sole possession of the MLS Regular Season goal scoring tally with a finish in the -- minute against the Philadelphia Union. The goal caps an emotional week for Donovan who was left off Jurgen Klinsmann's 23-man roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Donovan expressed his frustration on Saturday in his first training session back with the team, going as far to say that he believed he would be in contention to start.

The goal came in the 49th minute as Donovan finished a Robbie Keane cross for the record breaking goal.
