Fan voting begins for 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game -

Major League Soccer kicked off the festivities for the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday by launching fan voting on MLSsoccer.com.

Media members from across the country nominated a total of 152 players to the fan ballot including eight members of the LA Galaxy. Landon Donovan, Jaime Penedo, Stefan Ishizaki, Omar Gonzalez, Robbie Keane, A.J. DeLaGarza, Marcelo Sarvas and Juninho were selected to represent the club on the ballot.

Fans can vote online until July 11 at 12 p.m. PT and via Twitter from July 2-6.  A total of 11 players—one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders, and three forwards—with the highest vote totals will be named to the All-Star Fan XI.

The 11th player on the squad—a forward—will be decided by the AT&T/EA Sports “More than a Vote” Challenge where fans will have the opportunity to place the attacker in the squad by scoring goals on EA SPORTS FIFA 14 on Xbox One, PlayStation®4, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

The players that ultimately suit up for the MLS All-Stars against Bayern Munich on August 6 at Providence Park will ultimately be chosen by All-Star head coach Caleb Porter.  Although 11 players are chosen via fan voting, a total of 32 players are named to the All-Star team each year due to the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
