Omar Gonzalez says his status is uncertain for the LA Galaxy match against Real Salt Lake

CARSON, Calif. -- U.S. international Omar Gonzalez is back with the LA Galaxy, however, his return to the field may be delayed.

In an interview with reporters after the Galaxy's training session on Tuesday, Gonzalez said that he is still dealing with the aftereffects of rolling his ankle during the second half of the U.S. National Team's 2-1 Extra Time defeat to Belgium in the Round of 16.

"It was a pretty good injury there, but I'm still feeling it," Gonzalez said as he exited LA's training session at StubHub Center. "Still don't know if I'm going to be up for playing against Salt Lake. I'm practicing here, but practicing limited right now. But I'm going to try to get as fit as I can, make sure it's a smart move if I do end up playing. Because I want to be good for the rest of the season, and if I play and get hurt, maybe I'm out a little bit longer.

LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena refused to shut the door on Gonzalez's participation in Saturday's match against Real Salt Lake, however.

"We’ll see, it’s only Tuesday," Arena said. "He has been training the past few days. We’ll get into the week and see."
