LA Galaxy host San Jose Earthquakes on Friday | Weekly Schedule

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Aug. 4, 2014) – The LA Galaxy (9-4-6, 33 points) play their second-straight home match as they face the San Jose Earthquakes (6-8-5, 23 points) in the California Clasico at StubHub Center this Friday, Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. PT live on NBC Sports Network.

Bruce Arena’s side has only lost four matches this season, tied for the fewest of any team in Major League Soccer. In 19 matches, the Galaxy have only allowed 17 goals and have a +15 goal differential, both good enough for best in the League.

The Galaxy face San Jose for the second time this year, most recently defeating the Earthquakes, 1-0 on the road June 28 behind a Gyasi Zardes’ game winner. LA is 27-18-10 all-time against their California rivals, tallying a 16-5-4 record in matches played at home.

Galaxy forwards Gyasi Zardes and Robbie Keane have been in strong form in recent weeks, scoring a combined nine goals in the team’s past four matches. With eight total goals this season, Zardes has already doubled his rookie year scoring total of four while Keane’s 12 goals this year mark the third-consecutive season that the Irish international has scored in double digits in MLS play.
