LA Galaxy take on Seattle Sounders FC at StubHub Center this Sunday | Weekly Schedule

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Oct. 13, 2014) – The LA Galaxy (17-6-9, 60 points) will take on Seattle Sounders FC (19-10-3, 60 points) at StubHub Center this Sunday, Oct. 19 at 5:30 p.m. PT in a nationally-televised game on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. The Galaxy and Sounders will face each other in the final two matches of the MLS Regular Season for the chance to win the 2014 MLS Supporters’ Shield. The Galaxy will need a minimum of four points between the two matches in order to win the Supporters’ Shield, as Seattle holds the first MLS tiebreaker of total number of wins.

Bruce Arena’s side has lost just three times in the past 24 matches and has the least total amount of losses in MLS with six. The Galaxy have scored the most goals in MLS with 67 and have also allowed the fewest this year with 33, giving them an MLS best +34 goal differential. The team’s 67 goals this year are the second-highest output during a single season in the club history.

The Galaxy will face Seattle for the second time this year after winning the first matchup, 3-0 on the road on July 28. The Galaxy are 6-3-4 all-time against Seattle, scoring 19 goals in their 13 previous meetings.

Sunday’s game will mark the team’s final home match of the 2014 MLS Regular Season. The Galaxy have compiled a league-best 12-1-3 record at StubHub Center, losing only in the opening match of the season to Real Salt Lake in March. Landon Donovan, who leads MLS in assists this season with 19, is scheduled to make his 137th appearance at StubHub Center in his last regular season home match for the Galaxy.

MLS MVP leader Robbie Keane (international duty) and midfielder Marcelo Sarvas (yellow card accumulation) are both set to return to the lineup for the Galaxy after missing the team’s 2-1 loss in Dallas. Keane is third in MLS with 19 goals and second with 14 assists. With just one more assist, Keane will become just the third player in MLS history to record 15+ goals and assists in a single year. Sarvas has also had a banner year, tallying a career-high 11 assists in addition to his two goals.

With Keane, Donovan and fellow forward Gyasi Zardes all scoring double-digit goals this year, it marks just the second time in club history the Galaxy have accomplished such a feat. Since 1998, only two other clubs have had three goal scorers with 10 or more goals in a single-season.
