CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Oct. 17, 2014) – The LA Galaxy invite fans to participate in honoring Landon Donovan for his final regular season home match when the club faces Seattle Sounders FC this Sunday, Oct. 19 at StubHub Center with the match kicking off at 5:30 p.m. PT (ESPN2, ESPN Deportes). Gates for all fans will open at 3:30 p.m. PT, with Season Ticket Members having access at 3:15 p.m. PT. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 5 p.m. PT for a special on-field celebration ahead of Donovan’s final MLS regular season home match. The surprise pregame ceremony will feature tributes to Donovan’s historic career.
From 3:15-5:00 p.m., fans will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the MLS Cup trophy from the Galaxy’s MLS Cup victories in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2012 as part of SoccerFest, located on the South Plaza at StubHub Center. Additionally, fans can show their thanks to the Galaxy legend by writing personal messages on the #ThanksLD canvas.
The LA Galaxy Foundation will host its annual “Jersey Off The Back” night, giving fans an opportunity to receive a jersey from their favorite players on the field following the match. Bidding is open now and will end at halftime on Sunday’s match. Fans can bid for jerseys by visiting here, texting Galaxy14 to 52182 or at the LA Galaxy Foundation booth on Sunday.
Upon entry into the stadium, fans will receive a No. 10 card and are encouraged to join in a stadium-wide Landon Donovan chant when the game clock reaches 10:00.
For Sunday’s match, StubHub Center will have a visual presence throughout the stadium thanking Donovan during his final regular-season home match. #ThanksLD signage will be featured in various locations in the stadium on Sunday, with several signs including personal messages written by fans thanking Donovan. The Galaxy Star Squad and other on-field participants will wear #ThanksLD shirts, with additional shirts being thrown into the crowd throughout the match.
Thank-you videos from fans will also be played pregame and at halftime on the StubHub Center video board. LA Galaxy supporter groups Angel City Brigade and LA Riot Squad will also unveil special tifo honoring Donovan before the match.
In addition to all items listed here, the LA Galaxy will feature other celebrations honoring Donovan on Sunday that will be unveiled before and after the game.
