SEATTLE— In search of their fifth MLS Cup title, the LA Galaxy traveled from the sweltering Southern California heat to the chill of the Pacific Northwest on Friday.

In the morning, the Galaxy went through the paces at StubHub Center in their final training session at home before taking off for Seattle where they will take on Sounders FC in their Western Conference Championship second leg at CenturyLink Field on Sunday. Following training, Galaxy captain Robbie Keane asserted that LA are ready for the task that lays ahead of them at the end of the week.

“We know exactly what we have to do to get to the final,” Keane told the media. “We’ve been playing all season to get this opportunity where we are now. We can’t let it slip now.”

As the players completed their preparation for the Sounders, nearly a dozen members of the Angel City Brigade waved giant flags while holding a banner that read “Play For Glory & Make History” which greeted each player as they walked off the practice field.

Training completed, the Galaxy headed for a private section of Los Angeles International Airport for their charter to Jet City. Flying in the comfort and luxury of a charter jet is old hat for much of LA’s veteran squad, but Friday’s trip provided a special moment as the team caught glimpse of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant boarding his private helicopter following the Lake Show’s practice while the Galaxy loaded onto their own private plane.

Just two and a half hours later, the Galaxy found themselves in a predictably dreary climate as Seattle greeted the visitors from Southern California with wet and frigid conditions. LA will likely need to deal with the cold throughout their stay in the Pacific Northwest as the weekend forecast calls for rain—maybe even snow—and temperatures in the low 30s throughout.

Sounds like a recipe for some good soccer, right?

We’ll provide more updates from the road as the trip progresses.
