CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015) – LA Galaxy announced today the team’s preseason schedule ahead of the upcoming 2015 MLS Regular Season. The defending MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy will begin their MLS campaign Friday, March 6 against the Chicago Fire at StubHub Center at 7 p.m. PT live on UniMás.
All Galaxy players will report to StubHub Center for physicals on Thursday, Jan. 22. Galaxy media availability will take place the following day after the first training session of 2015. The Galaxy first team will continue training until Wednesday, Feb. 11 when the team departs for Europe to ahead of two friendly matches.
The Galaxy will travel to Stockholm, Sweden for a game against Hammarby played Monday, Feb. 16 at Tele2 Arena at 11:30 a.m. PT (7:30 p.m. local time). Hammarby, one of Sweden’s longest-serving clubs, plays in Sweden’s top professional division and is also owned by Anschutz Entertainment Company.
The Galaxy will then return to Dublin, Ireland when they face Shamrock Rovers F.C. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 8 a.m. PT (4 p.m. local time). The match will see the return of 2014 MLS MVP Robbie Keane, Ireland’s captain and all-time leading scorer, to his hometown of Dublin. Shamrock, the most successful professional club in Irish history, play in Ireland’s top flight professional division, the League of Ireland Premier Division. Rovers F.C. have won a record 17 League of Ireland titles, 24 Football Association of Ireland Senior Challenge Cups (FAI Cup) and 18 League of Ireland Shields.
LA Galaxy II will hold its second-annual Open Tryout Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 for a chance to join the team for the upcoming 2015 USL PRO season. Members from the LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy II technical staff, who will be on hand for tryouts, will select a minimum of two players to trial with Los Dos for the preseason with the opportunity to play in the club’s 2015 campaign.
