Former LA Galaxy midfielder Marcelo Sarvas ready for new challenge with Colorado Rapids

Former LA Galaxy midfielder Marcelo Sarvas is excited to lead his new team the Colorado Rapids after being dealt from the MLS Cup champions on Thursday in exchange for the third spot on the MLS allocation order.

Giving his first interview since the trade, Sarvas told Richard Fleming on the Colorado Rapids podcast that negotiations about a move to Colorado have occurred since the days following LA's MLS Cup triumph. Although the 33-year-old admitted that it was bittersweet to be living the Galaxy, he said that was eager for a new challenge in Colorado.

"I feel sad because I left a place that I had a lot of feelings for, but I'm also very happy because I believe in God and he opened this door for me. I feel comfortable to say that it was the right move," said Sarvas. "I expect big things from Colorado."

Sarvas and the Rapids will take on the LA Galaxy for the first time on May 5 at StubHub Center.
