CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Feb. 12, 2015) – The LA Galaxy Academy Under-17’s are set to host a Generation adidas Cup Regional this weekend at StubHub Center from Friday, February 13 until Monday, February 16. The event is the final of two such regionals taking place ahead of this year’s 2015 GA Cup, and will help define the seeding for that competition.

“We look forward to competing and testing ourselves against other MLS academies,” said LA Galaxy Academy U-17 head coach Mike Muñoz. “While our league is a good base for our players, to play in a tournament against other professional clubs is vital for our players’ development.”

The Galaxy Academy U-17’s are one of six MLS Academy teams taking part in the regional including Portland Timbers, Chivas USA, San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake, and Seattle Sounders FC. All games are being played at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

The Galaxy’s first game is on Friday, Feb. 13, against the Real Salt Lake Academy U-17’s at 6:00 p.m. at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium, followed with a matchup against the San Jose Earthquakes Academy U-17’s the next day at 12 p.m. Saturday’s game against San Jose will be played at StubHub Center’s Field 4. The third and final game will be on Monday, against the Seattle Sounders Academy U-17’s at 11 a.m. at the Track and Field Stadium.

Following the games in Los Angeles, the final standings of the regional events will determine qualification for the national event to take place over Easter weekend in April 2015. The top two teams of each group will qualify for the "GA" bracket, a final group stage that will determine the overall winners of the 2015 GA Cup. The remaining teams will qualify to the "ESP" bracket. The entire GA Cup West Region schedule and standings are available on MLSsoccer.com by clicking here.

The Galaxy Academy U-17’s will be coached by former Galaxy midfielder Mike Muñoz.
