LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena speaks after stoppage time 1-0 defeat to D.C. United

WASHINGTON -- The LA Galaxy were seconds away from a point on the road, but a late goal for Chris Pontius helped D.C. United defeat the defending MLS Cup champions 1-0 at RFK Stadium on Saturday night.

Following the defeat, Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena spoke to reporters about LA's defeat.

Arena's comments are below.

(On the result...)

ARENA: “Our team played very well today, and I thought we deserved to have a point. We have nobody to blame but ourselves, but I thought the referee failed to make that call at the end of the game, which would of ended the game with their player charging our keeper, which was ridiculous, the way he called the game today.  That is just part of it though but we've got accept responsibility for not coming off the field with a point."

(On the referee...)

ARENA: "He was inconsistent. You don't let a goalkeeper get charged at the end of the game like that. That's the one call that he can make on the day that's a reasonable call, but having said that, we should get a point out of this game."

(On the chances...)

ARENA: "We played well enough to get a point out of this game. We couldn't complain about getting a point, but losing that game was ridiculous.... Our team played well, our team played well today."

(On the chilly conditions...)

ARENA: "They were the same for both teams."

(On the play of Brian Rowe...)

ARENA: "He had a good game."

(On the playing without three starters due to international duty...)

ARENA: "Who cares? That's nothing. That's nothing."
