Three Points: LA Galaxy rally to beat Sporting KC in stoppage time, 2-1

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano’s Three Points from the club’s 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City. Baggio Husidic and Omar Gonzalez scored for the LA Galaxy.

GONZALEZ SAVES THE LA GALAXY LATE

The game wasn’t pretty but the LA Galaxy took home all three points with a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City.

For 90 minutes, the contest was a bizarre one riddled with inconsistent and physical play on both sides and, even more unpredictable officiating. However, deep in stoppage time, the Galaxy found the goal that they needed when second-half substitute Omar Gonzalez redirected a Juninho cross toward goal. The ball then bounced off Bernardo Anor, and into the back of the net, sealing the victory for the home side.

Unfortunately for MLS fans, we won’t get to see these two teams face off again until the final game of the regular season on Oct. 25, when the Galaxy make their only trip to Sporting Park.

HIGH MARKS FOR BRADFORD JAMIESON IV

Bradford Jamieson IV showed why he’s one of the finest players to ever come out of the LA Galaxy Academy with an impressive first career MLS start.

Whether it was up top or out wide, Jamieson’s speed and creativity were on full display as he looked dangerous going forward each time the ball was at his feet. Jamieson’s finest moment came in the 76th minute when he attempted an audacious back heel shot in front of goal that was just barely stopped by Kansas City goalkeeper Luis Marin.

Although Jamieson is expected to leave for the U-20 World Cup later this year, the 18-year-old showed that he should remain in Bruce Arena’s plans for the foreseeable future.

GALAXY PREPARE TO TAKE THEIR SHOW ON THE ROAD ONCE AGAIN

The LA Galaxy extended their unbeaten streak at StubHub Center to 25 games, but now they’ll head out on the road and try to bag their first road win since last August.

Fortified by extending their home unbeaten streak, LA will now travel across country to take on a New York Red Bulls team that is currently undefeated this season. The match will be the Galaxy’s first trip to Red Bull Arena since 2013 when they dropped a late 1-0 result to New York.

When the Galaxy travel to New York, they’ll certainly return Omar Gonzalez and Gyasi Zardes who started the game on the bench due to international duty, but we may also see the return of the injured quartet of Mika Vayrynen, Robbie Keane, Jose Villarreal and Leonardo.
