HARRISON, N.J. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano’s Three Points from the club’s 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls. 18-year-old Bradford Jamieson IV scored the only goal for the Galaxy while Felipe found the back of the net for New York.
BRADFORD JAMIESON IV SCORES HIS FIRST MLS GOAL
Bradford Jamieson IV continued his meteoric rise on Sunday by scoring his first career MLS goal in the LA Galaxy’s 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls
Making his second consecutive start, Jamieson put forth a mature performance as he pressed the New York defenders with his speed and showed dazzling creativity while on the ball. Jamieson’s work paid off in the ninth minute as he cut past Red Bulls defender Chris Duvall, and then fired a shot past New York goalkeeper Luis Robles for his first career MLS goal. With the goal, Jamieson became the second youngest player in Galaxy history to score a goal, behind Jack McBean.
Due to the composure and confidence that Jamieson has shown in his first two MLS starts, the 18-year-old forward is unlikely to lose his place in the Galaxy starting lineup for the foreseeable future.
LA EARNS HARD-EARNED POINT ON THE ROAD
Bruce Arena’s men are still winless in their last 10 games away from StubHub Center but LA were impressive in securing a point at Red Bull Arena on Sunday.
Throughout the week, the Galaxy talked about needing to show a little of extra grit on the road, and they did so in a highly physical match with the still-unbeaten Red Bulls. The Galaxy are now 0-5-5 away from StubHub Center since defeating the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on August 20, 2014.
The Galaxy return home for a date with the Colorado Rapids, but Sunday’s point in New York should provide plenty of confidence for a team that will play three of their next four matches away from the cozy confines of StubHub Center
PASSING GAME STRUGGLES AGAINST RED BULLS
The LA Galaxy will leave Red Bull Arena with their heads held high after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls, but the lone blemish from LA’s showing was their normally stellar passing game.
Facing a New York side that was eager to press the Galaxy high up the field, LA’s passing accuracy struggled as the Red Bulls frequently intercepted the visitors’ attempts to move the ball forward. Despite their struggles in the passing game, a compact Galaxy defense and a few clutch saves from Jaime Penedo prevented New York from scoring more than once.
Although the Red Bulls needed a fluke goal from Felipe to get a point from the match, the Galaxy’s final passing numbers were damning as LA finished the team with just 67 percent passing accuracy—their lowest of the season.
