Bruce Arena provides an injury update on LA Galaxy forwards Robbie Keane and Jose Villarreal

CARSON, Calif. -- On Wednesday, the LA Galaxy returned to the training ground for the first time this week, but captain Robbie Keane was not with the squad.

Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena confirmed to reporters that Keane did not take part in the team's first session ahead of this Saturday's clash with the Colorado Rapids. Arena revealed that the Irishman will continue to be evalauted throughout the week as he looks to recover from a groin strain that has caused him to miss the last three games.

Although the Galaxy have gone unbeaten in the three games that Keane has missed, Arena admits that the Irishman's absence has been felt particularly due to the fact that LA has started three different forward combinations since the captain went down.

"It is an impact. We don't have any Robbie Keanes sitting on the bench at the  moment," Arena said. "When you lose Robbie, you lose some characteristics of your attack but then it takes a little bit of time. But having said that since when Robbie has been out, we've still been able to get points. It is what it is."

While Keane's status is still in doubt, Arena did have positive news regarding Jose Villarreal who the Galaxy boss is, "will be getting back [to practice] soon."
