LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena provides an update on Robbie Keane ahead of road trip

CARSON, Calif. –The LA Galaxy have played their last four games without captain Robbie Keane due to a groin strain, and may be in line to play two more matches with their Irish forward out of the lineup.

Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena told reporters on Monday that no decisions have been made on Keane’s status for the team’s upcoming eight day road trip that will feature matches against Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas.

“I haven’t decided our travel roster yet,” Arena said.

The Galaxy’s last four matches without the Irishman haven’t always featured the finest displays of attacking soccer but the team has earned results as LA have racked up a 2-0-2 record with the captain on the shelf.  Although the Galaxy readily admit that they’ve missed their captain, defender Dan Gargan says that Keane’s absence is no excuse for their form as of late.

“Obviously, he changes the game when he’s on the field. But it’s not an excuse as to why we put 11 players on the field and we’re not playing up to our potential,” Gargan said. "I think our game changes with him on the field and vice versa with him off the field. I think we’re good enough to get results as we have done. But we’re also good enough to find a better form than what we’re putting out right now.”
