LA Galaxy to host Hometown Heroes Night Friday

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, May 21, 2015) – The LA Galaxy will host Hometown Heroes Night presented by Northrop Grumman at StubHub Center this Friday, May 22 during the match against the Houston Dynamo to honor the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities. The match, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT, will feature several initiatives designed to celebrate various groups of service, including the U.S. Army, California Highway Patrol (CHP), LA Sherriff’s Department, LA Fire Department and the South Bay Police Department Color Guard.



Prior to kickoff, the Galaxy Hero of the Game presented by Northrop Grumman will be honored on the field and the California Highway Patrol will perform a fly-over at StubHub Center during the National Anthem. At halftime, the Galaxy will honor all those who serve or have served by encouraging them to stand and be recognized with a stadium-wide round of applause.


Following the game, there will be a full fireworks show presented by Northrop Grumman with music by KROQ, with StubHub Center’s north berm open for fans as a place of viewing for the show. The show will begin 10 minutes after the match. Northrop Grumman also donated 500 tickets to United Service Organizations (USO).


The LA Galaxy players will don camouflaged t-shirts during warm ups with the limited edition Galaxy shirts also available for purchase at the LA Foundation booth during SoccerFest prior to kickoff. There will also be yellow bows placed on a reserved number of seats at StubHub Center in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in service to their communities.


Additionally, the U.S. Army, CHP and LA Sherriff Department will all have booths at StubHub Center with first-responder vehicles on site available for photos. Hometown Heroes postcards will be sold for $1 at the StubHub picnic area on the east side of the concourse with all proceeds benefitting the USO.


For the match Friday, the LA Galaxy have donated 100 tickets to Veteran Tickets Foundation, an organization that gives event tickets to currently serving military, veterans and their families.


Fans are encouraged to arrive to the match early as Pitch & Pale will also take place at StubHub Center before the game, beginning at 4 p.m. PT. The  community event will feature live music from Wildfire, food trucks, and local craft beers and drink specials. The Pitch & Pale is located in the southeast entrance of StubHub Center.
