Look ahead to Salt Lake: LA Galaxy look to start a winning streak against Real Salt Lake

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy will look to win their second straight on Wednesday when they host Real Salt Lake at StubHub Center.

Wednesday’s match will be the second meeting between the two teams this month, and the only Southern California trip for Real Salt Lake during the 2015 regular season.

Below are a series of links, matchups to watch and my prediction for Wednesday’s match.

LINKS:

Just who starts at left back for the LA Galaxy with Oscar Sorto suspended?

Might injured outside backs Robbie Rogers, A.J. DeLaGarza and Todd Dunivant feature against Real Salt Lake?

Referee Baldomero Toledo will preside over Wednesday’s match between the two Western Conference foes.

In the latest edition of “By the Numbers,” we look at Robbie Keane’s impact in the lineup and out of it.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH:
OMAR GONZALEZ vs. ALVARO SABORIO

Always a physical battle, Saborio will look to use every weapon in his bag of tricks to agitate and infuriate Gonzalez as he looks to looks to get under the Galaxy defender’s skin.

KYLE BECKERMAN vs. MIKA VAYRYNEN

Beckerman will look to ignite a Real Salt Lake attack that is fresh off a 2-0 victory over New York City FC, but the omnipresent Vayrynen will hope to slow down the U.S. international with his physical presence.

LUIS GIL vs. LA GALAXY OUTSIDE BACKS

Gil has caused the Galaxy plenty of trouble in the past due to his blend of speed and creative skill, and Wednesday will be no different. With Arena still unsure about who lines up at left back, Gil could be a handful for the Galaxy.

PREDICTION:

LA Galaxy 2 (Zardes, Gonzalez) Real Salt Lake 2 (Gil, Beckerman)
