A.J. DeLaGarza called up to Guam National Team

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, June 8, 2015) – LA Galaxy defender A.J. DeLaGarza has been called up to the Guam national team for two 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches in June. Guam will take on Turkmenistan Thursday, June 11 before a match against India Tuesday, June 16 with both games taking place at GFA National Training Center.


DeLaGarza will be unavailable for selection when the Galaxy travel to face Columbus Crew SC in an MLS matchup this Saturday, June 13 and a fourth-round U.S. Open Cup match at StubHub Center Wednesday, June 17 against PSA Elite.


The 27-year old defender has made four appearances for Guam since committing his international career to the country in 2013. Most recently, he earned caps during two EAFF East Asian Cup Semifinal Round matches against North Korea and Hong Kong. This season in MLS, the two-time LA Galaxy Defender of the Year has made eight appearances with seven starts.


Guam is currently paired in is AFC’s Group D alongside Iran, Oman, India and Turkmenistan for 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying. The two June matches will mark the first of group play.
