Guam

A.J. DeLaGarza and Guam made history on Thursday as the U.S. Territory picked up their first-ever victory in a World Cup qualifier after dispatching Turkmenistan 1-0 in a qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

An own goal by Turkmenistan right back Serdar Annaorazow in the 12th minute off a Guam throw-in was all the Matao needed to open their World Cup qualifying campaign with a win. DeLaGarza went 90 minutes in the victory in his longest action since May 17 after missing four matches due to a groin injury.

Guam return to action on June 16 when they face India at the Guam National Football Stadium.
