LA Galaxy host Portland Timbers before travelling to San Jose

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, June 22, 2015) – The LA Galaxy will play in two MLS Regular Season matches this week. The Galaxy will face Portland Timbers FC at StubHub Center this Wednesday, June 24 live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes before traveling north for the first California Clasico this season when they face the San Jose Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium Saturday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. PT live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes. LA Galaxy II will travel to face Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. PT.  

The Galaxy (6-5-7, 25 points) are 5-3-4 all-time against Portland, scoring 21 goals while conceding just 16. In home matches against the Timbers, the Galaxy have gone 4-0-2. In their most recent meeting, the Galaxy earned a 2-2 draw on the road against the Timbers on March 15 behind a goal from Gyasi Zardes and a stoppage-time equalizer from Alan Gordon.

In the California Clasico, the Galaxy have earned 27-18-12 record against their Northern California rivals, scoring 89 goals. Saturday’s match will mark the first of four matches overall between the two sides this season. The Galaxy will again face San Jose on the road just four days after Saturday’s game in a 2015 U.S. Open Cup match Round of 16 on Wednesday, July 1.  

The LA Galaxy earned a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union Saturday night in front of 23,875 fans at StubHub Center behind goals from Baggio Husidic, Juninho, Gyasi Zardes, Stefan Ishizaki and Sebastian LLetget. The LA Galaxy had five different players score a goal in a single match for the first time since 1999.
