CARSON, Calif. – Amid all the excitement over the LA Galaxy’s signing of Mexican international Giovani Dos Santos, there have been many who have lambasted the midfielder’s decision to join Major League Soccer in his prime.

After dos Santos’ signing was made official, Robbie Keane shot back at those questioning the Mexican international’s new deal.

The Galaxy captain was quick to silence the critics who have blasted dos Santos’ move to the Galaxy.  Citing his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate’s success internationally and in Spain over few years as well as the increasingly growing international talent in MLS, Keane hit back at those questioning dos Santos’ decision.

“Over the last few years, you can see how he’s done with Villarreal. He doesn’t have much to prove to the supporters there because he’s already done well,” Keane said. “He’s a top player, and let’s not make one mistake here. This league is a top league. I think whatever people are saying whatever idiotic people [are saying] this is a top league.

“If it is okay for Kaka, if it is okay for Lampard, if it is okay for Gerrard and Me or Giovinco, this is a league that people want to come to. If you’re going to the Premiership or Real Madrid or FC Barcelona, I can understand that but Gio’s already done that. He’s got nothing to prove. He’s got nothing to prove. All that he has to do is prove that he’s a good player, and he’ll do that because he is a good player.”
