CARSON, Calif. (Saturday, July 25, 2015) – LA Galaxy II (10-5-3, 33 points) will travel to Merlo Field for a match against Portland Timbers FC 2 this Sunday, July 26 at 7 p.m. PT. The game will be streamed live on www.lagalaxy.com.
The match will mark the first time that Los Dos have faced the 2015 USL expansion team. The two sides will square off again on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at StubHub Center.
Under head coach Jay Vidovich, Portland Timbers FC 2 are currently 7-10-2 with 23 points in 19 games in their first year of USL play. They are led by Belmar Kharlton, who has scored nine goals and added an additional three assists in 19 matches on the season.
Curt Onalfo’s side has won 10 of their last 14 USL competitions and are unbeaten in their last six games. They are led in goals by forward Ariel Lassiter with eight on the season with Raul Mendiola adding a league-leading eight assists. Los Dos are coming off of a 1-1 draw at StubHub Center’s Track & Field Stadium against Southern California rivals Orange County Blues FC behind a goal from Andre Auras.
Following the match against Portland, Galaxy II will continue a three-game road swing when they face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday, July 31 at 6 p.m. PT.
