The Daily Show's Jon Stewart had his soccer career ended with a defeat to Bruce Arena's University of Virginia | INSIDER

Jon Stewart, one of the nation's most beloved television personalities, completed his long-tenure as host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" on Thursday.  

But long before he was entertaining audiences with his political humor, the comedian was an accomplished soccer player at William & Mary's under his given name Jon Leibowitz. Stewart worked his way to the varisty becoming a starter in his senior season but the talented winger saw his college career come to an end when Bruce Arena's University of Virginia in the 1983 NCAA Tournament Second Round


As the host of The Daily Show, Stewart never lost his love of the Beautiful Game as he repeatedly involved soccer guests including Landon Donovan, Bob Bradley and Clint Mathis. Check out Stewart's interview with Donovan from 2010 above.
