LA Galaxy to host CSD Comunicaciones in the CCL and first match against NYC FC in club history | Weekly Schedule

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Aug. 17, 2015) – The LA Galaxy will play two matches this week, beginning Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. PT against CSD Comunicaciones live on Fox Sports 2 and Univision in their second match of the 2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League group stages. The team will then host New York City FC at StubHub Center on Sunday, Aug. 23 at noon PT live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. LA Galaxy II will play following the LA-New York matchup Sunday, Aug. 23 when they host Seattle Sounders FC 2 at StubHub Center at 3 p.m. PT.

Sunday will feature a doubleheader with LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy II. All fans with tickets to the MLS match between LA Galaxy and New York City FC (12 p.m. PT) will have access to the USL match between LA Galaxy II and Seattle Sounders FC 2 (3 p.m. PT) at StubHub Center. Fans that only have tickets to the LA Galaxy II-Seattle Sounders FC 2 USL match will not have access to the MLS match between LA and New York.
Tuesday’s match is the second game in the 2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League group stages for the Galaxy. In their first match, LA cruised to a 5-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago’s Central FC at StubHub Center as forward Giovani dos Santos made his Galaxy debut and notched his first goal for the club. This is the fifth time in which LA have qualified for the Champions League, debuting in the 2010-11 edition of the tournament. In 15 all-time group stage games, the Galaxy are 11-3-1, including a perfect 8-0-0 at home.
In Sunday’s MLS match, the Galaxy will face NYCFC for the first time in club history. NYCFC is led in goals by Spaniard David Villa with 14 goals on the season and will have recent additions Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo available for selection.
The Galaxy continue to lead Major League Soccer in scoring this year with 44 on the season and are also tied for the MLS best goal differential of +13. LA also has MLS bests in home goals scored (31) and home goal differential (+23). The team is 5-0-0 in their last five MLS matches at StubHub Center and 6-0-0 in all competitions. In the last six matches in all competitions (four MLS, one CONCACAF Champions League) at StubHub Center, the Galaxy have scored 27 goals overall and allowed just three for a +24 goal differential. This season at StubHub Center, the Galaxy have gone 10-1-2, scoring 31 goals and allowing just eight during MLS Regular Season play.
