Three Points: LA Galaxy put on five-star performance in big win over Comunicaciones

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Points from the LA Galaxy’s 5-0 win over Comunicaciones.

ALAN GORDON AND ROBBIE KEANE BAG BRACES IN BIG WIN

The LA Galaxy notched their fifth straight win in all competitions on Tuesday with an easy 5-0 win over Comunicaciones FC.

LA were the far better team across the 90 minutes as they scored early and often against the overmatched Guatemalans. Mika Vayrynen and Alan Gordon scored in the first half, but LA’s true offensive explosion occurred in the second half with the insertion of captain Robbie Keane. Keane had a hand in all three second-half goals, scoring twice and assisting Gordon’s second of the night.

Keane now leads the Galaxy in all-time CONCACAF Champions League scoring with nine goals in the competition.

MIKA VAYRYNEN GETS HIS FIRST LA GALAXY GOAL

Mika Vayrynen form has been inconsistent this season, but the LA Galaxy’s Finnish midfielder enjoyed a strong performance in Tuesday’s victory over Comunicaciones FC.

Starting in central midfield, the Finn’s cool demeanor on the ball allowed the Galaxy to bring a bit of calm to the normally hectic pace of CCL matches. Throughout the 90 minutes, Vayrynen helped LA control possession against a feisty Comunicaciones squad. However, the Finnish midfielder’s best moment came in the fifth minute when he opened the scoring with a lovely volley.

Prior to Tuesday, Vayrynen’s last goal for the team came in preseason when he tallied the winner for the Galaxy in their friendly against Shamrock Rovers in February.

TWO WINS IN TWO GAMES TO START SCCL

The LA Galaxy find themselves in pole position in Group D after racking up two consecutive wins in two Champions League matches against Central FC and Comunicaciones.

During their two matches, the Galaxy relied on mixed lineups of first choice regulars and reserves to have a dominating effect against their CONCACAF opponents. LA’s success could be seen on the score line as the Galaxy tallied 10 goals while conceding just once at home.

Now the truly difficult part begins as the Galaxy round out group play on the road in Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala. If LA’s prior trips in CCL play have been any indication, the Galaxy will have their fortitude tested in always unpredictable CONCACAF locales.
