CARSON, Calif. –
A.J. DeLaGarza
returned to the LA Galaxy on Wednesday following a trip in which the defender travelled the distance of the circumference of the earth for two 2018 World Cup qualifying matches with Guam.

Immediately following the Galaxy’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Aug. 28, DeLaGarza set off for Asia making the trek across the Pacific Ocean—and the entire Asian continent— for Guam’s match with Iran in Tehran.

After a trip of more than 10,000 miles, Guam fell 6-0 to the 2014 FIFA World Cup participants on Sept. 3. Once the match was finished, Guam headed back across Asia for a scoreless draw with Oman on Sept. 8 which allowed the Matao to remain undefeated at home this World Cup qualifying cycle.

DeLaGarza and Guam return to action on Oct. 13 against Turkmenistan at Köpetdag Stadium in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat. The Matao are currently in a three-way tie for first place in Group D with Iran and Oman but are trailing each team on goal differential.
