Thousands in attendance to see Giovani dos Santos at East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Day Parade | INSIDER

LOS ANGELES -- Thousands attended the 69th annual East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Day Parade hoping to have their glimpse of the parade's Grand Marshall, LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos.

Dos Santos was honored alongside the likes of Mexican-American labor and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta and Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis prior to the parade which rolled through the heart of East L.A. The Galaxy forward and Mexican international was the biggest draw of all with the crowd of thousands clamoring for Dos Santos as he traveled the parade route.

"I'm very happy and proud to represent my country and the rest of the Mexican community in the city of Los Angeles," Dos Santos told LAGalaxy.com before the parade began.

The Parade was organized by the Mexican consulate and the Comite Mexicano Civico Patriotico, a local nonprofit designed to uphold Mexican traditions.
