CARSON, Calif. -- Giovani dos Santos is hitting his stride just as Mexico prepares to unveil their squad for the all-important Oct. 10 CONCACAF Cup match with the United States for a berth at the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
The 26-year-old Mexican international scored the opener in the Galaxy's 3-2 victory over FC Dallas last Sunday.Dos Santos has four goals and six assists in nine games with the Galaxy. Dos Santos was placed on El Tri's provisional list for the Oct. 10 clash with the U.S. at the Rose Bowl earlier this month.
"For me, it's always a dream to play for the national team," Dos Santos told reporters last week before he scored in the win over FC Dallas. "It's just the pre-list but hopefully, I can be on the final list."
Dos Santos believes that if he strings together a few strong games with the Galaxy, the call will come from the Mexican Federation for the all-important Oct. 10 match against the United States.
"I know that I have to do very good games before [Oct. 10] and hopefully show what I can bring to my national team," he said.
