LA Galaxy clinch spot in Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs

CARSON, Calif. (Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015) – The LA Galaxy have clinched a berth in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs following a 1-1 draw against Seattle Sounders FC Sunday evening. The Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 28 with the Knockout Round and conclude on Sunday, Dec. 6 with the 2015 MLS Cup.



The Galaxy are currently 14-9-9 with 51 points on the year and sit atop the Western Conference. The Galaxy have scored the second most goals in Major League Soccer this season with 53, only behind Toronto FC (55).


For the first time ever all postseason matches will be shown live on national television across the League’s partner networks, ESPN, FS1, Univision Deportes, TSN and RDS. The 2015 MLS Cup will air on Sunday, December 6 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN, UniMás, TSN and RDS networks. In addition to the domestic broadcasts, playoff matches will be aired in more than 140 countries around the world.



The Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs features an expanded format with 12 teams qualifying – including bids to the top six teams in points from each conference at the end of the regular season. The top two seeds in each conference will earn first-round byes, while the third and fourth seeds will host the fifth and sixth seeds in single elimination Conference Knockout Round matches. The higher seeded teams will also host the second leg of the two-game, aggregate goal Conference Semifinals and Conference Championships series.


Following the second leg of the Conference Semifinals on November 8, teams will break for FIFA international match dates before returning for Leg 1 of the Conference Championships on Nov. 22.
