SEATTLE -- Jair Marrufo will serve as the head referee for Wednesday's Western Conference Knockout Round match between the LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders FC.
Interestingly enough, Wednesday's match will be Marrufo's third time serving as the head official for a match between Los Angeles and Seattle this season. The Texas-born referee served as the referee for the Oct. 4 match at CenturyLink Field (calling 12 fouls with no cards) which ended in a 1-1 draw and the Galaxy's Aug. 9 victory over the Sounders (calling 17 fouls and issuing two yellow cards). The 38-year-old official also presided over the Galaxy's 2014 Western Conference Championship clinching loss to Seattle a year ago.
Marrufo served as the head referee for two other LA Galaxy matches this season, their 4-0 defeat to Orlando City SC and their 2-0 regular season opening win over Chicago Fire.
