Jurgen Klinsmann to summon senior team players and U-23's to January camp | INSIDER

Jurgen Klinsmann will bring a mixture of senior players and Under-23 players when the U.S. National Team convenes at StubHub Center for the annual January camp next month.

Klinsmann and the rest of the USMNT will gather at StubHub Center in early January in preparation for a pair of friendlies at the venue against Iceland on Jan. 31 and Canada on Feb. 5. According to Klinsmann, the squad that he summons for the camp will be a blend of senior team players and U-23's much like last year's group.

"It’s going to be two groups, mixed together and working together side-by-side," Jurgen Klinsmann told U.S. Soccer's official website. "Hopefully, we see a lot of good stuff there with two exciting games at the end of the camp."

The focus of the camp will be on the two friendlies at the end; the U.S. boss admits that one of the primary objectives is to get both sets of players ready for a crucial month of March.  In March, the senior team continue 2018 World Cup qualifying while the U-23's prepare for their two-leg playoff with Colombia that will determine their qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

“Having a part of this group being part of the Olympic team, I think it’s a big advantage because we’re going to give them a chance to get already prepared towards those playoff games with Colombia at the end of March, which is hugely important," said Klinsmann. "We want our Olympic team to qualify for the Olympics, to go to Rio de Janeiro and to have this outstanding experience down there, so having them in camp as well with us is huge and hopefully it will pay off.”
