Here's why the LA Galaxy's jersey has one star on it in 2016

The LA Galaxy's primary kit will have a new look in 2016, but there will be a new feature that Galaxy supporters will need to become accustomed to in the years ahead.

A new golden star.

The Galaxy's 2016 kit will feature just a single gold star signifying the team's five MLS Cup. The change is part of a league-wide and Adidas initiative to honor clubs with five MLS Cup titles in a new manner.  The larger golden "scudetto" star for the reigning MLS Cup champion and silver stars of past winners remain, but once a team wins five MLS Cups, they will receive a golden star.

The difference between the Scudetto star and the five-time MLS Cup winning star is a subtle one. The Scudetto star will have a hologram of the club's championship winning year while the five-time MLS Cup star contains a hologram of the MLS Cup logo.
