Confession: I love tacos.

Next to soccer and the LA Galaxy, tacos might be my favorite thing on this planet.

And this is not an act. If you follow me on social media, you’ll see that I frequently post photos of my taco excursions throughout Los Angeles.

In my opinion, LA is the taco capital of the world. We are truly lucky to have the greatest tacos in The States here.

But not all LA tacos are created equal. For every great taco spot, there are a handful of over-priced duds that have moved away from the core tenants that make a taco great.

That’s where I come in. I’ve done all the hard work and research for you and created this must-visit list of taco joints in the city.

Ditch yelp and those over-commercialized hotspots that charge more than $3 for a taco. This is the only taco guide you need.

I present to you my top five taco spots in Los Angeles.

KING TACO

The originator.
You can’t talk about tacos in Los Angeles without paying your respect to the inventor of the taco truck. Some genius converted an ice cream truck into a taco factory on wheels. I salute you, Mr. King Taco.
Originality aside, the tacos here are fantastic and you can never go wrong with visiting one of the many King Tacos spread throughout the heart of LA.
And for those in the know, King Taco was served in the press box at every Galaxy game during our Rose Bowl days. Man, our original mascot Twizzle had it good!
Pro-tip: If you can’t handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen… and stick to the green sauce!
AVE 26 TACO STAND

No official name. No official address. No problem.

This is one of the best spots to head to after a night at Chavez Ravine. You’ll find this stand two miles north of Dodger Stadium on a long, dark, but always populated, street.

If you decide to head over after a Dodger game, expect there to be long lines, but fear not, as the taco assembly line of 5-6 heroes has an excellent ATT (Average Time to Taco) level.

The cumbias on the boom box, along with the friendly banter exchanged with the Dodger faithful, will make this a trip you won’t forget. Go Doyers!

Pro-tip: They cook potatoes in the meat juice. Healthy? Absolutely not. Delicious? You betcha. Ask for some with your order – they’re free.

LOS CARNALES TRUCK

In this case, the “C” on the window stands for Cozmo Approved!
Where else can you get five tacos and a discount on a slightly irregular US Soccer jersey all for less than $20?
You’ll find this spot in a Ross parking lot conveniently located off the 110 Vernon exit. Turnaround time here is slow, but there’s a quality product being produced inside that truck window. The meat is cooked outside and tortillas are made fresh in the truck. For those that have had hand-made tortillas, you know that they make a world of difference when it comes to tacos.
Pro-tip: Ask for beans on your tacos.
TACO'S ANTOJITO

Postgamin’.
This is my go-to spot after every Galaxy game. El Antojito is located two miles from StubHub and offers everything under the sun.

  • Soccer on the TV? Check.
  • Delicious Tacos? Check.
  • Seafood? Check.
  • Fresh Horchata? Check.
  • Homemade Ice Cream? Check.
  • Corn in a Cup with butter, cheese, and chili powder? Check.
  • A bunch of fruit inside a watermelon? I’ll pass, but Check.
  • Life Insurance policies sold out of a car? Again, I’ll pass, but Check.

This place is sure to please everyone in the family and every guest I’ve brought here has always asked to come back. Two Alien thumbs up!

Pro-tip: Ask for no lettuce on the tacos.

EL TAQUITO MEXICANO TRUCK
Tacos. Just Tacos.

This place keeps it simple: Quality meat and fresh ingredients.

The LA Galaxy photography crew and I discovered this truck a few years back after the Manchester United game at the Rose Bowl. We immediately fell in love (insert heart eyes emoji).

If you don’t live near Pasadena, this truck is definitely worth the drive.

Pro-tip #1: Order more than you can eat to prevent having to get back in line. You’ll be back for more. Trust me.

Pro-tip #2: There’s another great taco truck 47 paces north (I counted) that allows you to dress your tacos as you please.

This is typically the part where the writer asks the readers to provide feedback in the comments, and everyone voices their displeasure with the list, but I really don’t care for your feedback so I won’t ask. Thanks for reading, though.
