Fighting an illness all night, Steven Gerrard went 90 minutes and notched an assist in the LA Galaxy's 4-1 win over D.C. United on Sunday.

The 35-year-old was clearly ailing in the first half as the midfielder labored through a poor first half for the Galaxy.  Gerrard was sharper in the second half and delivered in the dying moments of the game when he fired a free kick that resulted in Mike Magee's second goal of the evening.

"No excuses, but I felt a bit floppy and ill after the first five or 10 minutes," Gerrard said. "I wanted to come off at halftime, but because we lost Gio and [Dan Kennedy], I had to hang in there. I'm glad I did because now I'm part of the win, but I don't feel great."

The Galaxy and Gerrard held a regeneration session on Monday and are off until Wednesday.
