CARSON, Calif. -- Gyasi Zardes and his wife Maddie welcomed their second child, Maylie Faith on Wednesday, and a day later, he was back on the practice field preparing for Saturday's match against the Colorado Rapids

Maylie Faith is the Zardes' family's second child, joining their one-year-old son Gyan. For the self-professed family man, Zardes is excited about the prospect of raising a baby girl and humbled by the reception that he's received from family and Galaxy fans.

"My daughter was born [on Wednesday]. It's a blessing to have another child. Family matters to me, and that's all that matters," Zardes told LA Galaxy Insider. "I'm just so thankful to have my family and the support from my friends, other family members, and even fans. The fact that they've been supporting me after I had a new baby has just been phenomenal."

Zardes is expecting to play in Saturday's game in Colorado against a team that he has scored twice against in his three professional seasons.

Ahead of his first game as a father of two, Zardes is anxious to get on the field.

"After having another child, it's even more motivating to succeed and become successful," said Zardes. "I want my kids to look up to me and be proud of me. It brings a real sense of motivation."
