Gyasi Zardes invites group of Hawthorne third graders to LA Galaxy game

It’s no secret that Gyasi Zardes is Hawthorne’s favorite son.

Whether it’s recognition from his community with the creation of Gyasi Zardes murals at Hawthorne Memorial Park or the kind words that members of the community offer for him, Zardes has made the type of impact in his hometown that he could have only dreamed of just years earlier.

Zardes’ contributions to the city have not gone unnoticed as a group of third graders at St. Joseph’s School in Hawthorne wrote to the Galaxy and U.S. National Team star after seeing him open futsal courts in their community.

As a thank you for the letters, the Galaxy have secured a total of 134 tickets for each student and family member to attend this Saturday’s game against the San Jose Earthquakes.
