Ciaran Clark's header off a Robbie Brady corner in the second minute was all Ireland needed to beat the Swiss. Despite the loss, the Boys in Green suffered a heavy cost in the match as Colorado Rapids striker Kevin Doyle exited with an apparent ankle injury.
As for Keane, the Galaxy striker was ruled out of the game on Thursday after missing several training sessions earlier in the week. Ireland boss Martin O'Neill denied that Keane is suffering from an injury, rather, stating that he was being rested to start against Slovakia next week.
