Just when fans thought there could be no more madness in March, LA Galaxy Mascot Cozmo completed a comeback for the ages in the MLS Mascot Mania bracket.
Pitted against former Colorado Rapids waterboy and current mascot, RapidMan, Cozmo found himself down big with just minutes left before poll closing. But LA Galaxy supporters answered the call and stuffed the ballot box with the votes necessary to clinch victory at the death for the lovable alien, defeating RapidMan with a 51 percent edge.
Shocked, Cozmo was left eyes and mouth wide-open at the results.
Next up? MLS mascot new guy, Kingston, Orlando City SC’s eternally 21-year-old lion. Polls for the Mascot Mania Semi Final will remain open until Sunday at midnight.
Cozmo, with the Galaxy since 2003, has 988 years left on his Millennium contract, the longest in MLS and professional sports history. The most successful mascot in MLS, Cozmo has helped the Galaxy to four MLS Cups.
