Bruce Arena says that Giovani dos Santos is nearing his best | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Giovani dos Santos has yet to find the back of the net in just two appearances for the LA Galaxy this season, but head coach Bruce Arena is bullish that Dos Santos’ best is coming.

The 26-year-old Mexican international went 65 minutes in the Galaxy’s 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers last week after recovering from a left leg injury suffered in the first half of the club’s season opener in early March. In his first action in nearly a month, Dos Santos struggled to ignite the offense as the Galaxy failed to score for a second straight game.

Despite the performance against Portland, Arena believes that better showings are on the horizon for Dos Santos.

“He has a lot more to offer. He’s going to get better in every game,” Arena, who sat down with Dos Santos earlier this week, said. “In another two or three weeks he’s going to be hitting his form if he continues to play and stays healthy.

“I think now that he’s healthy, he’s focused, and he wants to be the best player he can be. Hopefully, we’ll see that.”

As for how to get Dos Santos further integrated into the attack on Friday when Los Angeles take on the Houston Dynamo, midfielder Mike Magee insists that the Galaxy must find the striker in dangerous spots.

“Gio is a big part of what we’re trying to do,” Magee said. “Against Portland, whether it was him being out a while or us not finding him in good spots for whatever reason just as an attacking unit, we didn’t figure it out. It’s not on Gio; it’s on all of us.”
