Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 5-2 win over Real Salt Lake

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his “Three Things We Learned” from the Galaxy’s 5-2 win over Real Salt Lake.

EMMANUEL BOATENG PUTS IN MAN OF THE MATCH PERFORMANCE

Emmanuel Boateng introduced himself to LA Galaxy fans in a big way tonight.

Filling in for the injured Sebastian Lletget, Boateng scored his first career MLS goal and helped set up two others in a Man of the Match performance in the Galaxy’s 5-2 thumping of Real Salt Lake. It was little surprise that Boateng’s speed gave defenders fits, but the 22-year-old also showed an end product that had been missing in his previous appearances.

What made Boateng’s showing against Salt Lake even more impressive was that the Ghanaian was a force on both offense and defense, winning balls in both halves of the field.

GYASI ZARDES IS ON FIRE

Gyasi Zardes can’t stop scoring.

The Hawthorne product scored his fourth goal of the season in the Galaxy’s victory over Real Salt Lake. Zardes opened the scoring for LA in the 19th minute with a brilliant goal off a pass from Baggio Husidic that sparked the come-from-behind win.

In addition to his goal, Zardes also notched his first assist of the 2016 campaign. Gyasi could have added another assist to his impressive night after playing Ashley Cole through on goal with a beautiful through-ball but Nick Rimando saved the left back’s effort.

AFTER THEIR LATEST BIG WIN, THE LA GALAXY ARE NOW THE LEAGUE’S HOTTEST TEAM

The LA Galaxy are so hot right now.

By knocking off previously undefeated Real Salt Lake, 5-2 on Saturday night, the Galaxy took the mantel of league’s most in-form team from visitors from the Beehive State. The Galaxy are now unbeaten in five-straight matches and have scored a total of nine goals in two games while conceding just three.

Bruce Arena’s squad has been humming on all cylinders in recent weeks, but plenty of questions remain. Chiefly, where will Robbie Keane (knee injury) and Nigel de Jong (suspension) slide in once they return from their respective absences? Although that might cause headaches for Arena, it’s a good problem for the Galaxy boss to have.
