CARSON, Calif. – He didn’t score any highlight reel goals, but Gyasi Zardes enjoyed one of his best performances of 2016 during the LA Galaxy’s 4-2 victory over the New England Revolution.

Leading the line in the Galaxy’s attack-minded formation, Zardes notched two assists while repeatedly linking up with fellow attackers Giovani dos Santos and Robbie Keane. Zardes’ impact wasn’t purely felt on the score sheet as the striker completed 31 of 38 passes in an industrious performance.

Head coach Bruce Arena did not hold back in his praise of Zardes, stating that the forward enjoyed his best performance of 2016 against the Revolution. Upon learning of Arena’s praise, Zardes, ever the good soldier, couldn’t help but smile.

“I’m just trying to work for the team, and if I’m the highest striker, I’m trying to connect with my forwards,” Zardes said. “If I’m playing out wide, then I’m just trying to do the defensive work and the attacking work. I just try to do the game plan. The coaches do a phenomenal job at getting the team prepared for our opponents, and I just try to do what they ask of me.”
