Galaxy II

Match Preview: LA Galaxy II hit the road for second consecutive match to take on Seattle Sounders FC 2

LA Galaxy II (4-2-4, 16 points) are back in the Pacific Northwest for a second consecutive away match. This time, they’ll face the USL Western Conference’s last-place team, Seattle Sounders FC 2 (1-5-3, 6 points). Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. PT at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, Wash. The game will be streamed live on //www.lagalaxy.com/2.

Both teams enter Sunday’s match riding two-game losing streaks. After going unbeaten for their first eight games of the season, LA Galaxy II have dropped their last two matches against Sacramento Republic FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. Seattle’s last two losses were to Sacramento and Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

Despite the rough stretch, LA leads the league in scoring and are the first team to 20 goals on the season. They are the only team to be averaging two goals per game. Captain Jack McBean leads the league in goals (9), but missed the team’s last fixture against Vancouver due to injury.

On the defensive side of the field, Los Dos have conceded 15 goals, more than any team in the Western Conference.

Meanwhile, Sounders FC 2 have had a slow start to their season. Seattle is third in goals allowed in the Western Conference and is currently tied for fewest goals scored.

LAST MATCH

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 | LA Galaxy II 3: Los Dos suffered their second straight loss in a top-of-the-table rematch with Whitecaps FC 2. A sluggish start from Los Dos saw Vancouver go up 3-0 through 21 minutes. It would ultimately be too big a deficit to make up, but LA gave it their best shot and pulled within one after a converted PK by Jose Villarreal in the 90th minute. The closing minutes were unnerving for Vancouver, but Whitecaps FC 2 held on to leapfrog LA for the top position in the Western Conference.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 0 | Sacramento Republic FC 2: Seattle was shutout for the fifth time of the season against the Western Conference’s best defensive club, Sacramento. Sacramento held a two-goal after an early second half score and was able to easily close out the game.
