Voting is now open for the June LA Galaxy Goal of the Month competition presented by 76 Gas

Goals by Giovani dos Santos, Academy starlet Efrain Alvarez, Raul Mendiola, Sebastian Lletget and Jefrey Payeras are nominated for the June honor.

The winner of the competition will join Jack McBean, Giovani dos Santos and Robbie Rogers as winners of the competition.

SEBASTIAN LLETGET vs. LA MAQUINA

Sebastian Lletget’s quality made the difference in the Galaxy’s Open Cup contest with La Maquina as the attacker scored two goals in the 4-1 win. Lletget’s best finish came in the closing minutes of the second period of extra time when he streaked through the defense and then fired a left-footed shot that sailed into the top corner to seal the victory for the Galaxy.

JEFREY PAYERAS vs. TULSA ROUGHNECKS

Jefrey Payeras found the back of the net off a corner kick in the Galaxy’s 2-2 draw with the Tulsa Roughnecks earlier this month, but it was no ordinary header from a set piece. Off the corner, Payeras performed an acrobatic diving header to power his shot into the back of the Roughnecks’ net.

EFRAIN ALVAREZ vs. FC DALLAS
LA Galaxy Academy product Efrain Alvarez is one of the brightest talents in the club’s youth setup and the 13-year-old’s finish during the Developmental Academy Showcase showed why he’s so highly rated. During a match against FC Dallas, the U-14 star made a darting run on a restart and then unleashed a chip that sailed over the helpless Dallas ‘keeper and into the top right corner of the net.
GIOVANI DOS SANTOS vs. SAN JOSE

The LA Galaxy struggled to score goals in league play this month, but Giovani dos Santos’ pinpoint header against the Earthquakes prevented the first team from going scoreless in league play. In the early stages of the second half of the Galaxy’s eventual 1-1 draw with San Jose, Steven Gerrard floated a perfect cross to Dos Santos, who nodded it past Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham for the goal.

RAUL MENDIOLA vs. PORTLAND TIMBERS

The Galaxy booked their ticket for the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals thanks to Raul Mendiola’s tidy finish in the fifth minute of their 1-0 win over the Portland Timbers. The goal itself came from the left side when Ashley Cole found Ema Boateng inside the penalty area, Boateng then played a cross to Mendiola, who placed it into the Timbers net.
