Robbie Keane is in some of his best form of his storied LA Galaxy career, but when learning about some of the fabulous numbers that he’s putting up, the Irish striker could only shrug.
Keane scored in the Galaxy’s 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers last Saturday, giving the Irishman seven goals in just 10 games played this season. The 36-year-old Irishman is on quite the tear with 24 goals in his last 24 league games, and Los Angeles is reaping the benefits with a perfect 6-0-0 record when Keane scores in 2016.
All these stats show Keane’s obvious importance to the Galaxy attack, but they mean absolutely nothing to the Irish striker, who admits that he was completely unaware of each of the facts.
“I don’t sit at home looking at the stats thinking “oh, let’s see how many goals I’ve scored.” Mike Magee just told me that I have 24 [goals] in 24 [games],” Keane said to LAGalaxy.com on Saturday. “I needed Mike Magee to tell me that. I don’t look at stats. I look at the next game. I look at the scoreboard at the end of the game if we win. If we don’t, I don’t look at it.”
