CARSON, Calif. – New York and Los Angeles are two of the largest media markets in the United States, but are they rivals?
According to LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena, not a chance.
Ahead of the Galaxy’s clash with the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, Arena, who is himself a New York native, was asked about any rivalry between the Galaxy and either of the two New York MLS teams. The lifelong fan of various New York sports teams could only laugh at the suggestion.
“Rivalry makes absolutely no sense,” Arena said. “You guys put that tag on every team we play anyway, but this is as absurd as most of them.”
