Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Things We Learned from the LA Galaxy’s 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids.

BRIAN ROWE SUFFERS SCARY INJURY; STATUS IN QUESTION FOR NEXT WEEK

LA Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe endured a painful head injury during the Galaxy’s 1-1 draw with the Rapids on Saturday.

Rowe exited the field in the 84th minute after suffering a nasty collision with teammate Nigel de Jong. The 28-year-old goalkeeper was down on the pitch for several minutes before being helped off the field by the Galaxy training staff. Dan Kennedy replaced the injured Rowe and was not tested in his five minutes of action.

After the match, Galaxy boss Bruce Arena said Rowe required staples on the right side of his face, but provided no other update. If Rowe is unable to return next week, the goalkeeping duties will likely fall to either Kennedy or Clement Diop.

IS THE GALAXY OFFENSE COMING TOGETHER?

The LA Galaxy didn’t get the victory against Colorado, but the Galaxy’s offensive put in one of their better performances in recent months on Saturday.

Despite playing the league’s best defense, the Galaxy had plenty of opportunities, repeatedly testing Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard. Much of the attacking impetus came from the trio of Giovani dos Santos, Gyasi Zardes and Ema Boateng, who all frequently forced impressive saves out of Howard. Although the three forwards played well, it was defender Daniel Steres who provided the goal off a set piece.

The Galaxy will hope to build on their strong showing next week when they travel to the Big Apple to face New York City FC.

GALAXY SNAP OUTSHOT STREAK

The LA Galaxy broke a 16-game streak of being outshot by their opponent in their 1-1 draw with the Rapids.

Los Angeles registered 17 shots on Saturday to Colorado’s 12, snapping what had been the longest streak of its kind in Major League Soccer. Predictably, Bruce Arena shrugged when told of the team’s advantage postgame.

Speaking to the assembled press corps, Arena said only “children” care about holding an advantage in stats like shots and possession.
